Aerial work platform and construction machinery rental in Ruzomberok

In Ruzomberok, a single date sets the pace: the planned shutdown. Aerial work platforms and construction machinery are not rented here for a construction project that can be postponed, but for a shutdown window in which a pulp and paper mill — the largest single site of this industry in Slovakia — is worked on by many trades at the same time. Whatever is not completed in this window has to wait for the next shutdown.

Shutdown planning: many trades, one tight window

A plant shutdown differs from building construction in three respects. The window is fixed and short. The trades work simultaneously in a confined space, not one after the other. And the requirement is not one class but a combination — scissor lift for area work under the ceiling, articulating boom lift for up-and-over reach, telehandler for lifting material, plus the small class for awkward areas.

It therefore makes sense to plan the entire requirement as one rental for the duration of the window plus buffer days, instead of reordering each class individually. The machines are then on site and checked before the shutdown begins, and the first working day starts with work instead of logistics. Because several trades need the same set-up areas at the same time, a set-up area plan belongs in the preparation — along with reserves, because unknown findings turn up at every shutdown.

Boilers, digesters, pipe bridges: consider height and basket load together

Plant equipment of this size is tall, complex and difficult to access. On boilers, digesters, pipe bridges and filter systems, the working point is often far above the last walkable platform, and the machine can rarely stand directly underneath.

For pure height, telescopic boom lifts with 14.00 to 56.90 m are the class with the greatest reach in the rental fleet. If work has to be done over plant components, articulating boom lifts with 10.89 to 48.15 m are the right choice — outdoors in the diesel version, indoors in the electric version.

Shutdown plans are most often corrected, however, on basket load. Two fitters with tools, measuring equipment and a component easily exceed 250 kg — and the further the boom is extended, the lower the permissible load. Where weight and working area matter more than outreach, the way leads to the scissor lift: the diesel version with 9.70 to 34.00 m carries up to 1,134 kg, the electric version covers 6.30 to 33.00 m without local emissions. In tight technical rooms, the mast lift with 10.00 to 12.65 m remains the class that can get in there.

Narrow valley, narrow access: the location on the Vah

Ruzomberok lies in the Vah valley on the edge of the Low Tatras, and this location has a direct impact on planning. The industrial area is squeezed between the river, the railway line and the slopes; access roads are narrow and large set-up areas are the exception. Before delivery, three dimensions need to be clarified: the clear width and height of the access, the load-bearing capacity of roads and bridge structures, and the manoeuvring space at the unloading point. If a machine cannot get right up to the working point, the spider lift with 13.00 to 39.50 m is the design of choice. Then there is the weather: frost, wet conditions and short daylight hours in the winter months affect stability, set-up times and the number of usable hours per day.

Telehandlers, excavators and forklifts for Ruzomberok

When lifting material during a shutdown, the telehandler replaces the crane that is not available or is itself being serviced. Roto telehandlers with 15.42 to 38.90 m and 4 to 8 t are the strongest card on a cramped plant site because they work all around from a single set-up; fixed models cover 4.30 to 18.80 m at 1.25 to 25 t, electric models with 5.85 to 30.00 m handle indoor operation.

Excavators from 1.8 to 30 t operating weight handle foundation, trenching and demolition work. In addition, forklifts from 3 to 16 t, heavy-duty forklifts and cranes are available.

Documentation and responsibilities during a shutdown

During a shutdown, the plant operator checks the papers of every machine before it is allowed on site — and in Slovakia this documentation part is more extensive than German contractors expect. The reason is the classification: under Decree of the Ministry of Labour (MPSVR SR) No. 508/2009 Coll., a motor-driven mobile elevating work platform with a lift height of more than 1.5 m is considered lifting technical equipment of group A and therefore designated technical equipment, subject to official tests — official tests and repeated official tests. In addition, Government Regulation No. 392/2006 Coll., Act No. 124/2006 Coll. and STN EN 280 apply.

The division of tasks is clear. For each machine we provide proof of inspection, CE documentation and operating instructions — for several classes, separately for each machine. Access authorisation, work permits, risk assessment, coordination of trades as well as operator qualification and briefing are the responsibility of the operator and the contractor; so is the check before starting work in shift operation, i.e. before every shift.During a shutdown, the plant operator checks the papers of every machine before it is allowed on site — and in Slovakia this documentation part is more extensive than German contractors expect. Transport to Ruzomberok

We deliver to Ruzomberok by low-loader directly to your site; jobs in Zilina and Martin can be planned into the same tour. The delivery date is based on the start of the shutdown, not on the first working day on the component. Tell us the window and the list of working points, and we will put together the combination and bundle the deliveries; for the window duration plus buffer we charge at long-term rental rates.

FAQ: Ruzomberok

How do we plan machine requirements for a shutdown overhaul?

Ideally as one rental over the entire window plus buffer days, not as individual orders per trade. First record all work points with height, outreach and basket weight, assign equipment classes to them and group similar points. A set-up area plan prevents the trades from blocking each other.

How does winter weather change shutdown planning?

In the valley on the edge of the Low Tatras, frost, wet conditions and short daylight hours are to be expected in the winter half-year. This affects stability, set-up times and the number of usable working hours per day. A frozen surface can lose a considerable amount of bearing capacity when it thaws - assessing the ground is therefore part of the daily check.

How does a large machine get onto a confined plant site in the Vah valley?

By knowing the dimensions beforehand: clear width and height of the access, bearing capacity of roads and bridge structures, manoeuvring area at the unloading point. If a self-propelled machine cannot reach the working point, the spider lift with 13.00 to 39.50 m is the right design.

How do we reach pipe bridges and boiler areas at great height?

For pure height, the telescopic boom lift with 14.00 to 56.90 m. If work has to be done over plant components or around an obstacle, the articulating boom lift with 10.89 to 48.15 m is the right choice. The decisive factor is the horizontal distance between the permissible set-up area and the working point; in plants with many installations it is greater than assumed.

What basket load do two fitters with tools need?

Add up people, tools, measuring equipment and components; two fitters with equipment often weigh more than 250 kg. The permissible basket load decreases with increasing outreach - the maximum values in the table do not apply in every boom position. If weight and working area matter more than outreach, the scissor lift is the better choice.
