Aerial work platform rental – platforms for every job

Anyone searching online for "lifting platform rental" is, in the vast majority of cases, not looking for workshop equipment but for a mobile machine that safely lifts people and tools to height – known in the trade as an aerial work platform or mobile elevating work platform. This page clarifies the term and takes you directly to the right machine from the Luibl range.

Important distinction: The stationary vehicle lift used in car workshops to raise vehicles is not part of our rental fleet. If you are looking for a machine for work at height on site, in a hall or for maintenance, you are in the right place.

Lifting platform or aerial work platform – what is meant?

In everyday language, the term "lifting platform" is used for two completely different devices:

  • Vehicle lift: stationary, permanently installed in the workshop, raises vehicles for servicing. Luibl Rental does not rent out this category.
  • Mobile elevating work platform / aerial work platform: mobile, self-propelled or truck-mounted, lifts people and material to working height. Governed by STN EN 280, internationally also known as MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform). This is exactly the machine category Luibl Rental rents out.

In B2B purchasing, professionals usually speak of an "aerial work platform" or "mobile elevating work platform". In internet searches, "lifting platform rental" has also become established as a common search term – it generally means the same machine category. You will find the complete overview of our range, including all designs, a comparison matrix and selection criteria, on the page Aerial work platform rental.

Platform types explained briefly

Six designs cover working heights from around 8 to over 54 m:

  • Mast lifts – compact and narrow, ideal for confined hall areas and maintenance work up to 12 m.
  • Scissor lifts – large platform for vertical lifting, electric for indoor use or as a rough-terrain diesel version.
  • Articulating boom lifts – overcome obstacles thanks to the articulated boom, electric, diesel or hybrid.
  • Telescopic boom lifts – greatest straight reach for maximum working heights.
  • Truck-mounted platforms – drive independently between several work locations on the same day.
  • Spider lifts – for sensitive or uneven ground, embankments and rough terrain.

Which design suits your job depends on working height, outreach, ground conditions and emission requirements. You will find the detailed type comparison with comparison matrix and selection questions on Aerial work platform rental. The guide Which aerial work platform for which job? offers a decision aid in five questions.

How much does it cost to rent an aerial work platform?

Rental costs depend on design, working height, drive, rental period and transport distance – there is no uniform flat rate. You can get all price factors in detail and a reliable guide value via Aerial work platform rental or directly on request: tell us the working height, work location and rental period, and you will receive an itemised quote including transport. Renting in compliance with the rules: inspections and operator qualification

The operation of mobile elevating work platforms is governed by Government Regulation No. 392/2006 Coll. (work equipment), occupational safety rules (Act No. 124/2006 Coll.) and requirements for operator competence (written confirmation by a certified inspection technician under Section 17(3) Decree No. 508/2009 Coll.); motor-driven aerial work platforms with a lift height above 1.5 m count as designated lifting equipment, group A. Among other things, operators must ensure an inspection once a year and a test every two years by a certified inspection technician (Decree No. 508/2009 Coll., Annex 7), unless the manufacturer specifies shorter intervals, and documented operator briefing – regardless of whether the machine is bought or rented. All machines in the Luibl rental fleet are inspected regularly and handed over with a current inspection record. We provide an operator briefing on handover.

FAQ: Lifting platform rental

What is the difference between a lift and an aerial work platform?

"Lift" is ambiguous in everyday language: in technical usage it refers to the stationary vehicle lift that raises cars in workshops. Anyone looking for a mobile machine that takes people up to work at height means a **mobile elevating work platform** (aerial work platform for short, compliant with STN EN 280). Luibl Rental rents exclusively mobile aerial work platforms - no vehicle lifts.

Does Luibl also rent vehicle lifts for workshops?

No. Vehicle lifts are stationary workshop equipment and are not part of the Luibl rental fleet. Luibl Rental rents mobile elevating work platforms for work at height on construction sites, in industry and maintenance - from the mast lift to the 57 m telescopic boom lift.

Which types of aerial work platforms does Luibl Rental offer?

The range extends from compact mast lifts through scissor lifts and articulating boom lifts to telescopic boom lifts, truck-mounted platforms and spider lifts, with working heights from around 8 m to over 54 m. A complete comparison of all designs including working height, outreach and area of use can be found on the page [Aerial work platform rental](https://www.luibl.eu/mieten/arbeitsbuehnen/).

How much does it cost to rent an aerial work platform?

The rental price depends on design, working height, drive, rental period and transport distance – there is no flat rate. You can find the price factors in detail and a reliable guide price on [Aerial work platform rental](https://www.luibl.eu/mieten/arbeitsbuehnen/) or directly on request, stating working height, site and rental period.

Does Luibl Rental also deliver outside Slovakia?

Yes. Luibl Rental transports aerial work platforms with its own low-loader fleet throughout Slovakia and to sites in other European countries. For deliveries abroad, we recommend enquiring early, especially where special permits for heavy transport are needed.

Do I need training or a licence to operate it?

No driving licence, but instruction, yes. Required are a written confirmation of verified expertise issued by a certified inspection technician (Section 17(3) Decree No. 508/2009 Coll.; the IPAF PAL Card does not replace it), written authorisation from the employer and a documented briefing on the specific machine – regardless of whether the equipment is bought or rented. For truck-mounted platforms in road traffic, a valid operator certificate (Section 17(1)(b) Decree No. 508/2009 Coll.) is required instead, plus a driving licence according to gross vehicle weight. Luibl Rental does not provide certified operator training; on handover it provides an operator briefing.
