Narrow aisles, low hall ceilings, emission-sensitive interiors: this is where a high-lift pallet truck is used when a conventional forklift would be too big or too loud. At Luibl you rent electric high-lift pallet trucks with lithium-ion batteries, load capacities from 1,000 to 2,000 kg and lift heights from 3 to over 5 metres. Delivered throughout Slovakia by our own low-loader fleet.

Why rent an electric high-lift pallet truck?

The high-lift pallet truck closes the gap between the simple low-lift pallet truck (horizontal transport only) and the conventional electric forklift. It lifts loads up to mast height – without local emissions, agile and with a much smaller footprint than a ride-on forklift.

The specific benefits for warehousing and logistics:

  • Indoor operation without local emissions: the electric drive with LiFePO4 technology works without exhaust fumes – a must in food logistics, pharmaceutical production, retail and enclosed halls without heavy ventilation.

  • Agility in narrow aisles: the compact dimensions allow work in racking aisles where a ride-on forklift has no room to manoeuvre. Decisive in high-bay warehouses and dense block stacking.

  • Low noise level: the electric drive is quiet. This makes the high-lift pallet truck suitable for retail areas during opening hours, residential areas for night deliveries or hospital logistics.

  • No forklift operator licence in the classic sense, but instruction: for pedestrian-operated trucks such as the high-lift pallet truck we recommend documented in-house instruction in line with applicable Slovak safety rules. More on the required operator competence below.

  • Prompt availability for peak loads: renting covers seasonal peaks. Christmas trade in retail, stocktaking, production changeovers or short-term logistics projects – the rental fleet delivers at short notice.

Choosing a high-lift pallet truck is usually a decision against the space requirements and emissions of a ride-on forklift – while offering a higher lift than a low-lift pallet truck.

Our rental fleet: high-lift pallet trucks for every requirement

Luibl offers electric high-lift pallet trucks with load capacities from 1,000 kg to 2,000 kg and lift heights from 3 to over 5 metres. The focus is on modern machines with lithium-ion batteries – replacing older lead-acid batteries with their long charging times and cell maintenance.

Standard high-lift pallet trucks for classic pallet handling

For level hall floors and typical pallet logistics (Euro pallets, mesh box pallets) the standard high-lift pallet truck is the first choice. Load capacity 1,000 to 1,600 kg, lift height 3 to 3.5 metres. It is operated via an ergonomically shaped tiller with fingertip controls for lifting, lowering and direction of travel.

Typical applications: interim storage in production, order picking in warehouses, loading and unloading small vans with dropside height.

High-lift pallet trucks with initial lift for ramps and uneven surfaces

On truck ramps, at thresholds of loading doors or on slight unevenness outdoors, a standard high-lift pallet truck is not always enough. Models with initial lift additionally raise the load rollers on the fork carriage before the mast starts. The pallet is lifted off the ground along its full length – the truck overcomes thresholds and ramp edges without the load rollers touching down.

This is the decisive difference from the standard truck: where the working environment is not completely level, initial lift makes the job possible in the first place.

Electric high-lift pallet trucks up to 2 tonnes load capacity

For heavier loads and multi-shift operation Luibl offers electric high-lift pallet trucks with up to 2,000 kg load capacity and lift heights over 5 metres. These trucks work with a triplex mast and full free lift – important in halls with limited ceiling height. The lithium-ion battery allows opportunity charging during breaks; the truck stays ready for shift operation without a battery change.

An example model from the rental fleet is the EP ES series – Li-ion based, with integrated charger and designed for continuous use in intralogistics.

Technical criteria: choosing the right pedestrian stacker

Four parameters determine which model suits your application.

Load capacity and load centre: the rated capacity always applies to a defined load centre – usually 500 or 600 mm. With longer or asymmetric loads the residual capacity decreases. The load chart on the truck shows the exact values for every lift height and load centre. Particularly relevant: at maximum lift height the permissible load drops well below the rated value – something the operator must take into account when storing in high racking.

Lift height and mast type: three designs are common on the market. Simplex (single mast) allows lift heights up to approx. 3 m without telescoping. Duplex (two-stage telescopic mast, partly with free lift) reaches 3.5 to 4.5 m. Triplex (three-stage mast with full free lift) lifts over 5 m – with the same retracted height. Free lift is the distance the fork carriage can travel upwards without the mast itself extending – crucial in halls with low doors or ceiling beams.

Retracted height: often forgotten, but it decides whether the truck fits through doors and under ceiling beams. With duplex and triplex masts with free lift, the retracted height stays manageable even at high lift heights. Before renting: measure the door height at the site.

Turning circle and aisle width: high-lift pallet trucks are guided by a pedestrian operator. The turning circle is much smaller than that of a ride-on forklift – allowing working aisles from around 2.2 m wide. For even narrower aisles there are narrow-aisle variants in three-way stacker design, available from Luibl on request.

Battery and charging: lithium-ion batteries are standard at Luibl. Advantages: opportunity charging without capacity loss, no gassing (no separate charging room needed), longer service life than lead-acid. The integrated charger runs on standard 230 V power – no three-phase installation required. A full charge lasts a full shift depending on usage; opportunity charging during breaks significantly extends operating time.

Applications: from retail to industry

  • Retail and DIY stores: shelf filling during opening hours, quiet and without local emissions. High-lift pallet trucks with initial lift overcome door thresholds between warehouse and sales floor.

  • Food and beverage logistics: HACCP-compliant hall logistics with all-electric machines. Diesel forklifts not permitted.

  • Pharmaceutical and clean room logistics: operation without local emissions and low noise are a must here.

  • Production and interim storage: supplying production lines, returning empty pallets, putting away and retrieving in the adjacent racking area.

  • Order picking and dispatch: combined with low-lift pallet trucks, the high-lift pallet truck forms the backbone of intralogistics in e-commerce and distribution.

  • Truck unloading in city centres: where there is no room to manoeuvre a ride-on forklift, the high-lift pallet truck unloads directly from the truck into the shop – a classic application in central Bratislava or Kosice, and just as much in the historic centre of Zilina.

FAQ: High-lift pallet truck rental

chevronDown

What is the difference between a pallet truck and a high-lift pallet truck?

The simple pallet truck (also called low-lift truck) lifts the pallet only a few centimetres off the ground – enough for transport, too little for stacking. It is moved either manually via a hydraulic drawbar or electrically. The high-lift pallet truck has a mast and lifts the load to a height of several metres. It can be used to put pallets into racking, load trucks or lift loads over railings. Due to its design, the high-lift pallet truck is heavier and needs a little more space than a pure low-lift truck. In short: pallet truck = horizontal transport. High-lift pallet truck = horizontal transport and stacking.

How long does the battery of an electric high-lift pallet truck last in operation?

With a modern lithium-ion battery (LiFePO4), a high-lift pallet truck typically achieves 6 to 8 operating hours at rated load - enough for a full shift. The decisive advantage of Li-ion technology: intermediate charging during breaks causes no memory effect and no loss of capacity. In two- or three-shift operation, the machine is simply plugged in during the break and is back to a high charge level within 30 to 60 minutes. Older lead-acid machines still on the market need full charging cycles and a battery change in multi-shift operation. For new rentals, Luibl relies on lithium-ion technology.

What is the overall height of the high-lift pallet truck in the lowered position?

The overall height depends on the mast type. A simplex mast with a lift height of 3 m is around 2.0 m high in the lowered position. Duplex masts with a lift height of 4 m have an overall height of about 2.2 m. Thanks to multiple telescoping, triplex masts with a lift height of 5 m remain at about 2.1 to 2.3 m in the lowered position. The exact dimensions are given in the data sheet of the respective model - Luibl provides the documents before delivery.

What insurance do I need for a rented high-lift pallet truck?

For the rental period, machinery breakdown insurance or rented equipment insurance is recommended. It covers damage caused by operating errors, transport, vandalism and technical defects. In many companies, rented equipment is already covered by the general business liability insurance or a construction all-risk policy - it is worth checking with your own insurer. During the quotation process, Luibl clarifies which form of insurance makes sense for your application.

Do you need a forklift licence for a high-lift pallet truck?

Pedestrian-controlled industrial trucks such as the high-lift pallet truck are subject to the requirements of occupational safety rules (Act No. 124/2006 Coll.) and Government Regulation No. 392/2006 Coll. (work equipment). In practice this means: the operator must have documented instruction – that is, a written record of instruction in operation, safety devices and hazards on the specific machine. Full forklift training with theory and practical examination is not strictly required for purely pedestrian-controlled high-lift pallet trucks. Important: if the high-lift pallet truck has a ride-on platform or is a seated version, a forklift operator licence is required. Luibl clarifies the requirements during the consultation and, on request, provides instruction when the machine is handed over.
