Aerial work platform and construction machinery rental in Nitra

Aerial work platform and construction machinery rental in Nitra

In Nitra, aerial work platforms and construction machinery follow a calendar found nowhere else: the harvest year. The city of around 76,000 inhabitants is the centre of Slovakia's agriculture and food industry, plus a car plant with suppliers and a large exhibition centre. Grain silos, drying plants, cold stores and processing plants can only be maintained outside the campaign, and exhibition halls only between two events. Both mean tight, fixed time windows in which the equipment has to be ready for use.

Silos and drying plants: a lot of height on a small footprint

A silo cell, a dryer tower or an elevator is narrow and tall. The work point is often 20, 30 or more metres above the ground, while the set-up area next to it between conveyor bridges and pipelines measures only a few metres - a scissor lift, which works vertically above its own footprint, rarely gets into position in this geometry.

The right answer is boom machines. Articulating boom lifts work with 10.89 to 48.15 m working height and 150 to 450 kg basket load, the diesel version with 11.91 to 48.15 m and four-wheel drive even in yards without continuous paving. The articulated arm places the basket over plant components against the silo wall without the machine having to stand underneath. For free-standing tall plants, telescopic boom lifts with 14.00 to 56.90 m reach highest. If only a narrow passage remains between plant components or the surface cannot take high point loads, spider lifts with 13.00 to 39.50 m are the alternative.

Cold store, hygiene zone and maintenance outside the campaign

In processing plants, cold stores and ripening stores, the same applies as everywhere in food production: no exhaust fumes, no oil traces, no residues on the floor - combustion engines are ruled out there. Electric scissor lifts with 6.30 to 33.00 m and 227 to 1,000 kg cover evaporators, cooling ceilings, cable and pipe runs and lighting; for small plant rooms, mast lifts with 10.00 to 12.65 m are sufficient. In dry stores with racking, high-rack scissor lifts with 18.50 to 33.00 m are used.

The second point is the calendar. Intake, drying and storage take place within a few weeks around the harvest; during this time no plant stands still. Cleaning, inspection and conversion are concentrated in the months before and after - with the result that many businesses in the region register demand at the same time. So register your machine requirements early, even if the exact date is still shifting: we reserve the machine classes and rental period for you. Standby machines for the delivery peak also belong in the rental contract rather than in the hope of short-notice availability.

Diesel scissor lifts9.70 – 34.00 m363 – 1,134 kg

In yards with unpaved ground, diesel scissor lifts with 9.70 to 34.00 m and up to 1,134 kg basket load take over.

Construction machinery for yards, plants and new builds

Telehandlers are the most versatile machine on agricultural sites: fixed models lift to 4.30 to 18.80 m at 1.25 to 25 t and bring plant components to the installation point; roto telehandlers with 15.42 to 38.90 m work all around from one set-up, which is decisive in tight yards between silos and halls. For indoor work, electric telehandlers with 5.85 to 30.00 m are available.

Excavators cover 1.8 to 30 t - small ones for utility and drainage trenches, large ones for excavation pits for new warehouses. For handling, forklifts from 3 to 16 t complete the range, as rough-terrain forklifts on unpaved yards.

Inspection regime for aerial work platforms in Slovakia

For plant maintenance in Nitra, Slovak law applies - regardless of where the machine was rented. Decree No. 508/2009 Coll. classifies motor-driven self-propelled aerial work platforms with more than 1.5 m lift height as group A lifting technical equipment and therefore as designated technical equipment. This entails official tests (initial and recurring official tests), record-keeping obligations and formal requirements for operator qualification. The framework is formed by Government Regulation No. 392/2006 Coll. and Act No. 124/2006 Coll. on occupational safety and health; machine testing follows STN EN 280.

For a maintenance window this means: the records must be available at the start of the window, not halfway through. The machine documents and management of inspection intervals come from us. The operator remains responsible for the risk assessment for the specific plant, proof of competence and operator briefing, and in food businesses also for coordination with the hygiene concept. In silos and dryers, there are additional requirements for dust explosion protection and confined spaces, which belong in the same assessment.

Trade fair and hall construction: set-up within a fixed time window

The city's exhibition grounds are the second pacesetter. Set-up and dismantling run in tight windows between two events: hall technology, lighting, trusses and stand construction must be finished within a few days, and the same applies in reverse during dismantling. What is needed are agile machines that serve several work points in succession — compact electric scissor lifts for hall ceilings, mast lifts for stand construction and signage, and articulating or telescopic boom lifts on the outdoor grounds.

Decisive for planning: delivery before the set-up window opens, collection after it closes, and a number of machines that can carry the window instead of using it up with relocations. For recurring events and conversion phases lasting several weeks, we charge at long-term rental rates.

FAQ: Nitra

chevronDown

Which platform reaches the top edge of a grain silo?

Usually an articulating boom lift, because it reaches over conveyor bridges and pipelines to the silo wall without having to stand underneath them - 10.89 to 48.15 m, in the diesel version with four-wheel drive. For free-standing plants of very great height, the telescopic boom lift with up to 56.90 m is an option. For the selection we need the structure height, the distance of the set-up position and the obstacles in between.

Can aerial work platforms be used in cold-storage and hygiene areas?

With electric drive, yes - exhaust gases are ruled out there. Approval is given by the plant as part of its hygiene concept; typical requirements concern cleaning before bringing the machine in, tyre marks and the protection of products below the work point. Please pass these requirements on to us.

When should plant maintenance be booked with you?

As early as possible, because demand in the region is concentrated in the weeks before and after the campaign. A rough period is enough to start with: we reserve the machine class and rental period, and the exact date can be refined later.

Which machine is suitable for set-up and dismantling in exhibition halls?

For hall ceilings and lighting, compact electric scissor lifts; for stand construction and signage, mast lifts, because they stand on the smallest footprint; on the outdoor grounds, articulating or telescopic boom lifts. What matters is that the number of machines matches the time window - repositioning runs cost more during the set-up window than an additional rental item.

What else must be considered when working on dryers and in silo cells?

In addition to the platform, the hazards of the plant: dust explosion protection, confined spaces, risk of falling and engulfment, isolation of the conveying and drying equipment. This belongs in the contractor's risk assessment.
