Aerial work platform and construction machinery rental in Povazska Bystrica

In Povazska Bystrica, aerial work platforms and construction machinery are mainly needed for steel — for hall structures, crane runways, pipe routes and plant components that are installed, extended or repaired. The city is a centre of metalworking and mechanical engineering with a strong automotive share, and that shapes every enquiry: it is not the working height that decides but the weight that has to go up. Two fitters with a welding unit and gas cylinders quickly reach the limit of what a boom basket can carry.

Basket load first: assembly on steel structures

For assembly and repair work on steel components, the permissible basket load is the first selection criterion, not the last. The highest-capacity class in the rental fleet is diesel scissor lifts with up to 1,134 kg — enough for personnel, equipment and material to arrive at the top in one lift. On unpaved factory yards the four-wheel-drive version plays to its strengths.

In the hall, where exhaust fumes are ruled out, electric scissor lifts with up to 1,000 kg basket load take over. For external structures, pipe bridges and headframes that the machine cannot drive directly beneath, articulating boom lifts are the right class — although basket load here is considerably lower and falls as the boom extends. For great heights on chimneys, silos and towers, telescopic boom lifts up to 56.90 m are available.

Hot work brings its own requirements: flying sparks, fire watch, protection of the machine and the areas below. Let us know whether welding will take place in the basket — machine selection and equipment depend on it.

Platform plus telehandler: material lifting without a crane

In steel construction and crane installation, the lifting equipment itself is in question: the crane is precisely the component being worked on, and a mobile crane is disproportionate for lifts on a daily basis. The usual answer is a combination of an aerial work platform for positioning people and a telehandler for the material.

Fixed models lift 4.30 to 18.80 m at 1.25 to 25 t and also handle heavy assemblies. Roto telehandlers reach 15.42 to 38.90 m and lift all round from a single set-up — decisive when a hall bay is accessible only via one free area. Inside buildings the electric version works; forks, load hooks and work basket mounts are added as attachments.

The rental fleet in figures

ClassWorking heightBasket load
Scissor lifts electric6.30 – 33.00 m227 – 1,000 kg
Scissor lifts diesel9.70 – 34.00 m363 – 1,134 kg
High-rack scissor lifts18.50 – 33.00 m450 – 1,000 kg
Articulating boom lifts10.89 – 48.15 m150 – 450 kg
Telescopic boom lifts14.00 – 56.90 m227 – 454 kg
Mast lifts10.00 – 12.65 m200 kg
Spider lifts13.00 – 39.50 m200 – 400 kg

In narrow warehouse aisles, high-rack scissor lifts do the work; for inspection rounds in workshop and office wings a mast lift is sufficient.

A factory site grown over time in a narrow valley

The second topic is conversion of existing buildings. The factory areas have grown over decades and are densely built up; the valley allows hardly any lateral expansion: halls adjoin one another, with narrow driveways between them and pipe bridges and rail sidings above.

For scheduling this means three things. The clearance height under pipe bridges and crane runways often limits which machine can reach the work location — measure it before you specify the working height. In confined yards, a machine with outriggers all round may block the only access; here narrow scissor lifts have the advantage. Where set-up areas are soft or have basements below, spider lifts with low ground pressure come into play.

For demolition and foundation work, excavators from 1.8 to 30 t complete the range. For in-plant transport, forklifts from 3 to 16 t are available, as heavy-duty forklifts for heavy assemblies, plus high-lift pallet trucks up to 5.50 m lift height. The rest of the earthmoving and civil engineering fleet can be found under construction machinery.

Decree 508/2009: official tests for aerial work platforms

In a company that builds lifting equipment itself, the system is familiar — even so, it is worth looking at how the rental machine is classified. Decree MPSVR SR No. 508/2009 Coll. lists a pojazdna pracovna plosina (mobile work platform) with motor drive and a lift height above 1.5 m as zdvihacie technicke zariadenie skupiny A (group A lifting equipment); it is therefore a designated technical device for which official tests are prescribed — uradne skusky and, at recurring intervals, opakovane uradne skusky — as well as formal requirements for operator qualification. In addition, Government Regulation No. 392/2006 Coll., Act No. 124/2006 Coll. and the test standard STN EN 280 apply.

We supply the inspection record, CE documentation and operating manual with every machine; risk assessment, proof of qualification and instruction at the work location remain with the hirer. For work on steel structures, the points arising from the activity are added: hot work permit and fire watch, fall protection at the boom end, securing the area below the workplace and coordination with crane operations. The visual and function check before work starts cannot be shifted to the rental company.

Transport to Povazska Bystrica

We deliver the machines by low-loader to your site — delivery throughout Slovakia. We schedule with our own low-loaders and partner hauliers and coordinate the date with your assembly planning.

For factory sites we need the delivery point, access width and height and permissible axle load in advance — on densely built-up sites the last alley is regularly the bottleneck. For requirements of several months, long-term rental rates apply; we price the platform, telehandler and attachments as a package. Further locations in the valley, for example towards Trencin, can be included in the same run.

FAQ: Povazska Bystrica

chevronDown

Which platform can carry two fitters with welding and cutting equipment?

First add up the total weight: people, protective equipment, welding or flame-cutting equipment, cylinders and tools. If the total exceeds what a boom basket can carry, the way leads to scissor lifts — the diesel version reaches up to 1,134 kg. Articulating and telescopic boom lifts are well below this, and the permissible load drops with the boom extended.

Can welding or cutting be done in the basket of a rented platform?

That depends on the machine and the application and must be clarified in advance. Flying sparks can damage hydraulic hoses, cables and covers, and the area below the work point must be secured against falling hot particles; this includes a hot work permit and a fire watch. Let us know that hot work is planned and we will select the machine accordingly.

Who carries out the prescribed inspections on a rental machine?

As the rental company, we are responsible for the inspections of the machine: every platform comes with a valid inspection record, CE documentation and operating manual. Everything related to the job — risk assessment, proof of operator qualification under Slovak law, instruction and the daily visual and function check — lies with the contractor.

What limits the choice of machine on an organically grown plant site?

Almost always the access, not the required height. Pipe bridges, crane runways, rail sidings and canopies limit the clearance height, narrow driveways the width, and stored material reduces the set-up area. Measure the narrowest point along the entire route before the machine class is decided.

How do I lift material up when the crane system itself is being repaired?

With a telehandler. Fixed models lift up to 25 t, roto models reach 38.90 m and work all round from one set-up position, which is decisive in tight plant yards. An aerial work platform positions the people in parallel — for assembly work lasting days to weeks, usually more economical than a mobile crane.
