Aerial work platform and construction machinery rental in Bratislava

Aerial work platform and construction machinery rental in Bratislava

Anyone renting aerial work platforms in Slovakia needs to know one point that does not apply in Czechia or Austria: a self-propelled aerial work platform with motor drive and a lift height of more than 1.5 m is classed in Slovakia as vyhradene technicke zariadenie - designated technical equipment under special supervision. This has consequences for inspection and documentation, and it is why projects in Bratislava require more paperwork than a site in Germany.

This page matches the rental fleet to typical Bratislava applications and explains what the Slovak classification means in practice.

Bratislava as a construction and office market

Bratislava is Slovakia's strongest location for construction and offices. High-rise construction on the Danube waterfront, office districts in Nove Mesto, renovation in the historic centre, plus industry and logistics in the west of the city and around the Danube port. The range of requirements is correspondingly wide.

For interior fit-out in new buildings, electric scissor lifts are the standard class: 6.30 to 33.00 m working height, basket loads from 227 to 1,000 kg, no local emissions and gentle on finished floors. High-rise projects use the large models from 18 m upwards; for fit-out, 8 to 12 m with a large basket area is sufficient.

On facades and in the Old Town, where direct access is not possible, you need up-and-over reach across obstacles: articulating boom lifts with 10.89 to 48.15 m. For courtyards and accesses that do not allow a chassis through, spider lifts with 13.00 to 39.50 m and the lowest ground pressure are the solution.

Industry, port and logistics in the west

Around the port and industrial areas, different criteria apply: unpaved ground, high basket loads, great heights at plants and silos.

Four-wheel-drive diesel scissor lifts cover 9.70 to 34.00 m with basket loads of up to 1,134 kg - the class with the highest capacity in the range, when fitters plus tools and material have to go up in one lift. For aisles in distribution halls there are high-rack scissor lifts with 18.50 to 33.00 m and a narrow track. The greatest working height is achieved by telescopic boom lifts with 14.00 to 56.90 m.

ClassWorking heightBasket load

Mast lifts10.00 – 12.65 m200 kg
Spider lifts13.00 – 39.50 m200 – 400 kg

For interior fit-out, shopfitting and maintenance in occupied buildings, mast lifts are the lightest class - they fit through standard doors and can be moved by one person.

Telehandlers and excavators for the Bratislava region

Telehandlers handle material transport without a crane. Fixed models lift to 4.30 to 18.80 m at 1.25 to 25 t, roto telehandlers reach 15.42 to 38.90 m and work all around from a single set-up - on inner-city sites with just one free set-up area, that is the decisive advantage. Electric telehandlers with 5.85 to 30.00 m for work inside buildings.

Excavators from 1.8 t to 30 t for excavation pits, utility construction and interior demolition. In addition, forklifts from 3 to 16 t and high-lift pallet trucks with 2.70 to 5.50 m lift height.

Inspection and operator obligations in Slovakia

This is where Slovakia differs significantly from Czechia - anyone working in both countries should not confuse the rules.

Under Decree No. 508/2009 Coll., a self-propelled aerial work platform with motor drive and a lift height above 1.5 m is a group A lifting technical equipment and therefore designated technical equipment. This entails special inspection and documentation obligations, including official tests and recurring records.

In addition, there is Government Regulation No. 392/2006 Coll. on minimum requirements for the use of work equipment and Act No. 124/2006 Coll. on occupational safety and health. The testing of mobile elevating work platforms follows STN EN 280.

What this means for you: every machine is delivered with a valid inspection record, CE documentation and operating manual; we keep inspection intervals and maintenance history for the entire rental fleet. The operator obligations on site - risk assessment, operator qualification and briefing - are governed by Slovak law and remain with you. In particular, clarify the qualification requirements for operating staff early on; in Slovakia they are regulated more formally than in Germany.

The visual and functional check before starting work is the operator's duty, regardless of whether the machine is rented or owned.

Transport to Bratislava

We deliver throughout Slovakia. We organise transport with our own low-loaders and partner hauliers and coordinate the delivery date with your construction schedule.

For requirements lasting several months, we invoice at long-term rental rates. We price combinations of platform and telehandler as a package - one transport, one contact person, one invoice. The same scheduling applies to projects in Trnava.

FAQ: Rental in Bratislava

What does "designated technical equipment" mean for my rented platform?

Under Decree No. 508/2009 Coll., a motor-driven aerial work platform with a lift height of more than 1.5 m is classed as designated lifting equipment of group A and therefore as technical equipment under special supervision. In practice, this means an inspection once a year and a test every two years by a certified inspection technician (Decree No. 508/2009 Coll., Annex 7), unless the manufacturer specifies shorter intervals, as well as a written confirmation of the operator's verified expertise (Section 17(3)). The machines are delivered with complete documentation of inspections and tests; the operator obligations at the place of use remain with you.

Do the Czech rules also apply in Slovakia?

No. Czechia and Slovakia have separate regulations. In Czechia, Government Regulation No. 378/2001 Sb. applies; in Slovakia, Government Regulation No. 392/2006 Coll. together with Decree No. 508/2009 Coll. — and only the Slovak regulation classifies aerial work platforms as specially supervised equipment. Anyone with projects in both countries should not treat them as the same.

Which platform is suitable for facade work in Bratislava's Old Town?

Usually an articulating boom lift because of its up-and-over reach, or a spider lift if the access is narrow and the ground does not allow a high point load. The clear width of the access and the load capacity of the set-up area are decisive — measure both in advance.

How high and how strong are the machines?

The greatest working height is 56.90 m (telescopic boom lift), the highest basket load 1,134 kg (diesel scissor lift). Both do not exist in one machine: as the boom length increases, the permissible basket load decreases. Tell us height and weight together, and we will find the right combination.

What information does an enquiry for maintenance on a melting or moulding plant need?

Working height at the highest point, weight of people plus tools and material, free set-up area next to the plant, permissible floor pressure and clear height of the hall door. Add notes on elevated temperatures or flying sparks.
