Aerial work platform and construction machinery rental in Trnava

Aerial work platform and construction machinery rental in Trnava

Demand for aerial work platforms and construction machinery in Trnava focuses on an area you cannot see from outside: the space between the top of the racking and the hall roof. The city of around 64,000 inhabitants is home to a car plant and an extensive supplier park, plus electrical engineering and logistics. What is maintained and retrofitted there is almost always overhead — light strips, sprinklers, ventilation ducts, conveyor systems, racking. The choice of machine therefore depends less on working height than on set-up width, reach and whether there is any space under the work position at all.

Equipment under the hall ceiling: lighting, sprinklers, ventilation

Modern manufacturing and storage halls in the supplier park are between 10 and 14 m high, larger logistics buildings considerably more. Under the ceiling run smoke vents, ventilation ducts and electrical routes — equipment that has to be regularly inspected, cleaned and extended, often while the hall is in operation.

The standard machines for this are electric scissor lifts with 6.30 to 33.00 m working height and 227 to 1,000 kg basket capacity. The high basket capacity is not a luxury: anyone installing light strips, pipe sections or duct segments takes material up with them. Diesel machines are ruled out inside the hall and are only used outdoors, there as diesel scissor lifts with 9.70 to 34.00 m.

If there is equipment, a rack block or an occupied area below the work point, only outreach helps: articulating boom lifts reach over the obstacle with 10.89 to 48.15 m, and the electric range with 10.89 to 28.00 m remains suitable for indoor use. For maintenance in occupied sales, testing and office areas, mast lifts with 10.00 to 12.65 m are sufficient.

Rack aisles: great height on a narrow track

In the warehouse section of supplier plants, a different constraint applies. The aisles between high racks are designed for forklift width, not for construction machinery — a normal scissor lift will not fit. For this there are high-rack scissor lifts with 18.50 to 33.00 m working height, 450 to 1,000 kg basket capacity and a narrow track: rack inspection, repair of damaged beams, retrofitting of shelves, rack lighting, sprinkler heads in the rack levels.

For conveyor systems above the aisles — roller conveyors, sorters, overhead conveyors — articulating boom lifts come back into play, because the area under the system stays occupied. For crane runways, hall trusses and roof structures, telescopic boom lifts with 14.00 to 56.90 m cover even large logistics halls, and spider lifts with 13.00 to 39.50 m handle the edge areas without paved access. In rack aisles, besides working height and basket capacity, what counts is machine width, clearance height under cross beams and turning circle at the end of the aisle.

Telehandlers, excavators and forklifts for the supplier park

Rack parts, duct segments and plant modules have to get to the right place before installation. Telehandlers do this without a crane: fixed models with 4.30 to 18.80 m lift height and 1.25 to 25 t, roto models with 15.42 to 38.90 m for all-round work from one set-up, and indoors electric telehandlers with 5.85 to 30.00 m.

At the ramp, in the warehouse and in pre-assembly, forklifts from 3 to 16 t are at work, indoors as electric forklifts; high-lift pallet trucks with 2.70 to 5.50 m lift height support order picking. For hall extensions and utility lines, excavators from 1.8 t to 30 t are available.

What Slovak inspection obligations mean for overhead work

Aerial work platforms are subject to a specific inspection regime in Slovakia. Under Decree No. 508/2009 Coll. of the Slovak Ministry of Labour, a motor-driven mobile elevating work platform with a lift height of more than 1.5 m counts as group A lifting technical equipment and thus as designated technical equipment; official tests (periodically as repeated official tests) with corresponding documentation are required. In addition, Government Regulation No. 392/2006 Coll., the occupational safety and health act No. 124/2006 Coll. and STN EN 280 apply.

For overhead work, a second level is added that does not depend on the machine: fall protection in the basket, protection against falling objects, cordoning off the area below the work point, coordination with hall operations. This belongs in the risk assessment of the contractor, as do the qualification and briefing of the operators. From us you get the machine documentation — inspection record, CE documentation, operating manual — as well as tracking of inspection dates and maintenance history.

Flat areas, long distances: planning in the Danubian Lowland

Trnava lies in the flat Danubian Lowland. For machine use this is an advantage: plant and yard areas are level and load-bearing, set-up points can be found almost anywhere, and gradients hardly play a role. The effort lies elsewhere — the sites are large, and the distance from the unloading point to the work point can be several hundred metres.

Two things follow from this: the unloading point should be close to the work point, so that the machine does not have to cross half the site on routes used by forklifts and trucks. And for work in several halls, one extra machine pays off — relocation time within the plant is more expensive than a second rental item.

The proximity to Bratislava helps with planning: deliveries to Trnava can be combined with other trips in western Slovakia, which makes scheduling easier. For needs of several weeks, we invoice at long-term rental rates, and we price the platform and telehandler as a package.

FAQ: Rental in Trnava

chevronDown

Which platform fits into a high-rack aisle?

The high-rack scissor lift. It reaches 18.50 to 33.00 m working height with 450 to 1,000 kg platform load and is narrow enough for aisles designed for forklift width; standard scissor lifts are too wide. Give us the clear aisle width, the lowest clearance height and the turning space at the end of the aisle - then we make the selection.

May machines with combustion engines enter the hall?

In occupied production and storage halls, generally not. There you work with electric scissor lifts, electric articulating boom lifts, mast lifts or electric telehandlers. Diesel machines remain reserved for outdoor areas and shell construction. The decision lies with the hall operator - clarify it before ordering.

How do I reach sprinklers and light strips when there is a rack underneath?

With the side outreach of an articulating boom lift: it stands next to the rack block, rises over it and positions the basket at the ceiling. A scissor lift only works vertically above its own footprint and is therefore ruled out. For the selection we need the outreach and the obstacle height, not just the ceiling height.

How long may a racking system remain closed for maintenance work?

That is determined by your operations, not the machine. For planning, the key is keeping the closed aisle section as short as possible: a platform with sufficient basket load handles several work points per set-up instead of re-manoeuvring for each component. With several aisles one after the other, a second machine pays off compared with constant repositioning.

What information does an enquiry for maintenance on a melting or moulding plant need?

Working height at the highest point, weight of people plus tools and material, free set-up area next to the plant, permissible floor pressure and clear height of the hall door. Add notes on elevated temperatures or flying sparks.
