Aerial work platform and construction machinery rental in Zvolen
Planning aerial work platforms and construction machinery for Zvolen means, above all, taking loading equipment and rail operations into account. The town at the confluence of the Hron and Slatina rivers is one of the most important rail hubs in central Slovakia and also a traditional centre of wood and paper processing. Maintenance here rarely takes place in an enclosed space, but rather at crane runways, loading ramps and extraction systems — often in the open air, on an unpaved storage yard and within reach of a track.
Crane runways, ramps and log yards
Loading facilities make three demands at once: height at the crane runway, outreach over the load and stability on ground that was not built for it.
On crane runways in halls — trolley, conductor rail, end stop, lighting above the runway — you work fastest with scissor lifts, because the large platform holds tools; the electric version covers 6.30 to 33.00 m at 227 to 1,000 kg. If the runway passes over a storage area, you need the outreach of articulating boom lifts with 10.89 to 48.15 m.
Outside, at loading ramps and on log yards, the picture is reversed: gravel, bark mulch or natural ground, and the bearing capacity changes after every rainfall. This is where diesel scissor lifts with four-wheel drive belong — 9.70 to 34.00 m and 363 to 1,134 kg platform capacity. Load-spreading pads under the outriggers are not a formality there.
Working near tracks: possession before machine choice
As soon as a siding or an overhead line is in the work area, the organisational question comes before the technical one. Track possession, isolation and earthing, lookouts, clearances to live parts: these are set by the infrastructure or plant operator, not the rental company.
Two things follow from this. The possession is short, so the machine must be set up and checked beforehand. And the safety distance determines the required outreach: the further the platform has to stand from the track, the more reach you need. Telescopic boom lifts with 14.00 to 56.90 m cover the greatest heights, diesel articulating boom lifts with 11.91 to 48.15 m the combination of height and up-and-over reach. So tell us the working height and the horizontal distance to the nearest permissible set-up area.
The rental fleet in figures
| Class | Working height | Platform capacity |
|---|---|---|
| Electric scissor lifts | 6.30 – 33.00 m | 227 – 1,000 kg |
| Diesel scissor lifts | 9.70 – 34.00 m | 363 – 1,134 kg |
| High-rack scissor lifts | 18.50 – 33.00 m | 450 – 1,000 kg |
| Articulating boom lifts | 10.89 – 48.15 m | 150 – 450 kg |
| Telescopic boom lifts | 14.00 – 56.90 m | 227 – 454 kg |
| Mast lifts | 10.00 – 12.65 m | 200 kg |
| Spider lifts | 13.00 – 39.50 m | 200 – 400 kg |
Wood processing: drying, extraction, fire protection
The second pillar in Zvolen is wood and paper processing — and there, fire protection often decides the drive. In dusty areas, at extraction systems, filters and drying chambers, ignition source restrictions set by the operator apply; combustion engines are generally excluded there.
That leaves the electric line — in the class that reaches the work point without repositioning. In production these are mostly electric scissor lifts or, in narrow aisles, mast lifts with 10.00 to 12.65 m; in high storage areas, high-rack scissor lifts with 18.50 to 33.00 m. Clarify in advance whether the fire protection officer requires cleaning or a separate permit.
Telehandlers, excavators and forklifts for the Zvolen region
Where no overhead crane is available, or the crane runway itself is being serviced, the telehandler takes over material lifting. Fixed models lift 4.30 to 18.80 m at 1.25 to 25 t; roto telehandlers reach 15.42 to 38.90 m and work all the way round from a single set-up position — the decisive advantage on a crowded storage yard.
Excavators from 1.8 to 30 t operating weight handle foundation work and utility trenches at loading ramps and track installations. In dispatch they are complemented by forklifts from 3 to 16 t, and for unpaved storage areas by the rough-terrain version.
Slovak inspection rules and the roles on the plant site
On a plant site in Zvolen, two sets of rules meet: the operating instructions of the plant or infrastructure operator, and Slovak occupational safety and health law, which is often underestimated in practice.
Decree No. 508/2009 Coll. of the Slovak Ministry of Labour classifies a motor-driven mobile elevating work platform with a lift height of more than 1.5 m as group A lifting technical equipment — making it designated technical equipment, subject to official tests and repeated official tests, with specific requirements for the operator and operating personnel. Government Regulation No. 392/2006 Coll. governs the use of work equipment, the framework is set by Act No. 124/2006 Coll., and testing follows STN EN 280.
For a project close to the tracks, this means: the inspection certificate is our part — every machine leaves with a valid inspection certificate, CE documentation and operating manual. Isolation and handover of the work area, track possession, access authorisation, risk assessment, instruction and the check before work starts are the operator's responsibility.
Transport to Zvolen
We deliver to Zvolen by low-loader to your site; the last section of the route runs through the Hron valley. Banska Bystrica lies upstream in the same valley; jobs in both towns can be scheduled in one run. For work during a track possession, the delivery date depends on the start of the window, not the start of work. For requirements of several weeks we charge long-term rental rates, and platform, telehandler and forklift are scheduled as a package.
Working height, outreach and ground conditions determine the right machine. A comparison of all designs with costs and inspection requirements can be found under Lift rental: platform types, costs and applications.
