Hybrid articulating boom lift rental - one machine for indoors and outdoors

Hybrid articulating boom lifts combine two drives in one machine: a combustion engine for travelling off-road and an electric drive for working without local emissions in enclosed spaces. The term Bi-Energy is also common. Luibl Rental rents hybrid articulating boom lifts with working heights up to 49 metres - delivered by low-loader to your site, throughout Slovakia.

The benefit lies not in the technology itself, but in the fact that a project can manage with one machine instead of two. Precisely where outdoor and indoor work follow each other, this saves an entire transport run.

When a hybrid drive pays off

For purely indoor use, the electric articulating boom lift is the more economical choice; for continuous outdoor work, the diesel version. Hybrid pays off in four situations:

  • Switching between outdoors and indoors on the same project - for example a facade followed by installation work in the hall, without swapping machines.
  • Sites without a reliable power supply - the combustion engine recharges the battery, and electric operation remains available.
  • Emission- or noise-sensitive environments - city centres, hospitals, food production, heritage conservation. In electric mode the machine works without local emissions and much more quietly.
  • Long working days - where a purely battery-powered machine would reach its runtime limit, the second drive bridges the gap.

Machines in the rental fleet

In the hybrid segment we offer, among others, the Niftylift HR 21 Hybrid and HR 28 Hybrid as well as the Genie Z60-37FE. These series cover the range from around 20 metres up to the top class and are designed for dual operation - four-wheel drive and oscillating axles for rough terrain, non-marking tyres for sensitive floors.

Which machine fits depends less on the drive than on working height, lateral outreach and basket load. The more weight in the basket, the lower the permitted outreach - so tell us the working point, set-up location and load.

What to consider in hybrid operation

Switching between drives is straightforward for the operator, but you should plan for two points:

  • Charging time. Electric operation is only available while the battery is charged. For longer indoor phases, plan for recharging or alternating operation.
  • Dead weight. Two drivetrains mean more mass than a purely electric machine. Check the permitted point load at the set-up location and the load-bearing capacity of floors and access routes in advance.

As with any aerial work platform, safe operation requires that operators are briefed and hold a written confirmation of verified expertise issued by a certified inspection technician (Section 17(3) Decree No. 508/2009 Coll.), and personal fall protection equipment is mandatory on the platform (work at height under Government Regulation No. 147/2013 Coll.). Every machine leaves our rental fleet with a valid inspection and complete documentation.

How much does a hybrid articulating boom lift cost?

The rental price depends on the same factors as for the other designs: working height, lateral outreach, rental period and transport. Hybrid machines are generally more expensive than comparable electric and diesel versions because they have two drivetrains. They become economical where they replace a second machine or an additional transport - the higher daily rate is then offset by a saved delivery.

Daily, weekly and monthly rates are tiered. Delivery and collection are shown separately and depend on the job location, transport weight and site access. The price includes the inspected machine, maintenance and recurring inspections during the rental period, as well as technical advice.

Tell us the working height, required lateral outreach, ground conditions, rental period and job location - you will receive an itemised quote. All designs at a glance: Articulating boom lift rental, the entire range in our rental fleet.

FAQ: Hybrid articulating boom lift rental

What does hybrid mean for an articulating boom lift?

The machine has two drives: a combustion engine for travelling on rough terrain and an electric drive for working in enclosed spaces. The term Bi-Energy is also common for this. In electric mode the platform works without local emissions and considerably more quietly.

When is hybrid worth it compared with electric or diesel?

Whenever outdoor and indoor work follow one another in the same project, when there is no reliable power supply on site, or when the environment is sensitive to emissions and noise. For purely indoor use the electric version is more economical, for continuous outdoor work the diesel version.

How high does a hybrid articulating boom lift reach?

In the hybrid segment, our rental fleet covers working heights of up to 49 metres. More decisive than the height alone is usually the outreach: it determines how far from the standing position you can work without repositioning the machine.

Do I need to charge the battery in between?

Electric operation is available as long as the battery is charged. The combustion engine recharges it during operation. For longer indoor phases, you should plan for recharging or alternating operation – this belongs in job planning, not in improvisation on site.

Is the machine heavier than a purely electric platform?

Yes. Two drive trains mean more weight. Therefore check the permissible point load at the set-up location and the load capacity of access routes and intermediate floors in advance. We will tell you the dead weight of every model.

What qualifications does the operator need?

As with any mobile elevating work platform, the operating personnel must hold a written confirmation of verified expertise issued by a certified inspection technician (Section 17(3) Decree No. 508/2009 Coll.), or for truck-mounted platforms a valid operator certificate (Section 17(1)(b) Decree No. 508/2009 Coll.). Personal fall protection equipment is used on the platform (work at height under Government Regulation No. 147/2013 Coll.). Your employees receive an operator briefing on the specific machine on handover.

How is the platform delivered?

By our own low-loader fleet - delivered by low-loader to your site, throughout Slovakia. Machines of this class need specialised transport equipment. Clarify the access and the unloading space in advance - this is the most common cause of delays.

Has the machine passed its inspections and tests?

Every machine leaves our rental fleet with valid inspections and tests of technical equipment and complete technical documentation. Maintenance and periodic inspections during the rental period are included in the rental price.
