The advantages of renting LPG forklifts from Luibl

An LPG forklift is not a compromise – it is the technically correct answer to a specific application profile. Three strengths make the difference:

  • Fast readiness without a charging cycle. A cylinder change takes less than two minutes. No breaks, no second forklift to bridge the gap, no charging infrastructure on site. In three-shift operation, this is the decisive productivity lever.

  • Indoors and yard with one machine. Thanks to LPG combustion and a three-way catalytic converter, emissions remain low enough for use in ventilated halls – while delivering full performance in the yard. One forklift covers both zones.

  • High power density at moderate weight. At the same load capacity, an LPG forklift is often lighter than an electric counterpart with a heavy battery – this reduces ground pressure and allows use on more sensitive surfaces.

Applications – when is an LPG forklift the best choice?

Beverage and food industry

Beverage wholesale, breweries, food logistics: here goods are constantly moved between hall, ramp and yard – often in multi-shift operation, often at a high handling pace. In a project for a beverage wholesaler, LPG forklifts noticeably reduced downtime compared with the charging cycles of electric forklifts, thanks to the quick cylinder change. The decisive factor: no unproductive charging break in the middle of peak utilisation.

Production plants with mixed work zones

Anyone with goods receipt outdoors but production and order picking in the hall needs a machine that easily serves both zones. LPG forklifts meet this profile without changing the drive and without compromising performance. Typical industries: automotive suppliers, packaging industry, timber and furniture production.

Intensive multi-shift operations without charging infrastructure

Seasonal peaks, additional shifts, project work on temporary sites: if there is no adequate charging infrastructure on site or simply no time for charging cycles, LPG is the plannable solution. Luibl also delivers at short notice for campaigns lasting a few weeks up to long-term rentals over several months.

Event logistics and trade fair construction

Trade fair construction, open-air events, indoor events: flexible zones, changing loads, often no permanent electrical infrastructure. The LPG forklift goes into operation without preparation and stays mobile.

Technical details of our LPG rental forklifts

Load capacities from 1.8 to 7 tonnes

Three load capacity classes cover the broad application profile:

  • 1.8 tonnes (Hyundai 18L-7M) – 5.04 m lift height. Compact class for pallet handling, beverage trade, specialist retail.

  • 4 tonnes (Hyundai 40L-7A) – 6.03 m lift height. Mid-range segment for industrial handling, heavy containers, wholesale.

  • 7 tonnes (Hyundai 70L-7A) – 5.06 m lift height. Upper class for mechanical engineering suppliers, timber industry, steel trading.

Mast types – standard, duplex and triplex

The right mast depends on the hall door height, ceiling height and required final lift height:

  • Standard mast for regular use without clearance restrictions

  • Duplex mast two-stage, compact overall height, standard for many warehouses

  • Triplex mast three-stage with initial free lift – essential for container unloading, truck loading under low doors or work on mezzanine floors

Application tip: the initial free lift determines whether you can raise the load without the mast extending upwards. This is critical with container loading doors or restricted clearance heights.

Attachments ex works or on request

Available as standard:

  • Side shift – for exact positioning of pallets

  • Fork positioner – hydraulic, for different pallet widths without manual adjustment

Configurable on request:

  • Fork extensions for longer loads

  • Rotators (e.g. paper roll tipper, waste bin emptier)

  • Full cab with heating and air conditioning

  • Overhead guard with windscreen and wiper

Individual configuration is particularly worthwhile for long-term rentals – we tailor the equipment to your application profile.

Technology – three-way catalytic converter and LPG combustion

LPG forklifts burn liquefied petroleum gas (LPG, usually a propane-butane mixture) in a spark-ignition engine. The three-way catalytic converter reduces carbon monoxide, unburnt hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides to a level that permits indoor use – provided the workplace is adequately ventilated (observe applicable Slovak safety rules). Modern rental machines comply with the current emission standards of the respective engine class. We supply details on the specific model in the data sheet on request.

Safety and inspections – focus on the LPG system

The handling of LPG cylinders is clearly regulated. Luibl ensures that every rental machine meets the requirements:

  • Inspection of the LPG system in line with applicable Slovak safety rules by qualified experts. Documentation is supplied with every rental machine.

  • Inspections and tests under Government Regulation No. 392/2006 Coll. and occupational safety rules with a current inspection sticker

  • Secure cylinder holder with inspected mounting and shut-off device

  • Instruction of the operator on handling the gas cylinder is the hirer's responsibility – Luibl provides an operator briefing on handover

Operator qualification: Operation requires a forklift operator licence (Act No. 124/2006 Coll., Decree No. 356/2007 Coll.), issued by an authorised training provider. Handling the gas cylinders themselves additionally requires instruction in line with applicable Slovak safety rules (protection against hazards from LPG).

FAQ: LPG forklift rental

chevronDown

Which is cheaper to rent: electric or gas?

The pure daily rental price is often similar for comparable load capacity. What matters is the overall view: gas forklifts have higher running costs (LPG cylinders) but no infrastructure costs and no charging losses. Electric forklifts are usually cheaper for pure day shifts, gas forklifts for multi-shift and outdoor use. For a specific TCO assessment we advise you based on your shift model.

How does the gas supply work for rental machines?

Luibl LPG forklifts use the standard 11 kg cylinder system (refillable or exchange cylinders). You obtain the cylinders from your local gas supplier - if you do not have a source, we will recommend suitable partners. For larger fleets, a fixed LPG tank installation can also make sense; we advise on this for long-term projects.

How long does a gas cylinder last in rental use?

Depending on the model and load profile, an 11 kg cylinder allows around 6 to 8 hours of intensive operation. This makes one shift possible without changing cylinders. For heavier use we recommend keeping a second cylinder on site - the change takes less than two minutes.

Are LPG forklifts suitable for rough terrain?

LPG forklifts are industrial forklifts with low ground clearance. They are designed for paved, level surfaces - i.e. asphalt, concrete, paved yards. For unpaved sites, mud or steep ramps, rough-terrain forklifts with four-wheel drive are the right choice.

What equipment is included in the delivery?

Standard equipment includes side shift, hydraulic fork positioner and operator's protective roof. The cylinder holder and mounting are already fitted and checked. For short-term rentals we supply the first gas cylinder on request – for long-term rentals the customer organises the ongoing supply.

What happens in the event of a defect during the rental period?

Our technician service is available for on-site work throughout the rental period. In the event of major defects, we organise a replacement machine to minimise downtime.

How is the forklift delivered?

With our own low-loader fleet. This makes us independent of external hauliers and ensures plannable dates. Delivery throughout Europe - to Slovakia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Czechia, Hungary and other countries.

Can an LPG forklift be driven indoors?

Yes - with sufficient ventilation. The three-way catalytic converter reduces exhaust gases to such an extent that indoor operation in ventilated workplaces is permissible. The decisive factor is the risk assessment in line with applicable Slovak safety rules (Act No. 124/2006 Coll.). For permanent use in enclosed spaces without forced ventilation, we recommend an electric forklift.
